About Us

Who are we?

My family and I have lived and worked here at Tulleys since 1937 when my grandfather, Bernard Beare, settled into the farms. My parents, Denis & Marion Beare, first opened Tulleys Farm to the public in 1971 with Pick your Own strawberries. The next 20 years saw the 'Pick your Own' enterprise grow rapidly and, as I was growing up here, the farm predominantly produced fruit and vegetables. I joined the farming business in 1991 and we opened the farm shop in 1992, followed by the Tea Room in 1996.

I suppose I'm not your conventional farmer and the unique mix of activities that Tulleys now offers have mostly been born out of my approach to doing things slightly differently. Visting the USA on a direct marketing conference in 1998 changed the way I looked at the future of the farm and gave me confidence to develop new atttractions, such as the Giant Maze Fun Park and our famous and award-winning Halloween Festival.

Although Christmas is and should be a time for more serene entertainment, we hope to have added a little Tulleys Magic gained from our experiences with our other family events and provided all the elements for children and adults alike to have a fun, memorable Christmas. This, combined with our expertise in preparing a fantastic choice of seasonal shopping in the Farm Shop and wholesome food and refreshment in the Farmhouse Kitchen Tearoom ensures that, whatever your reason for visiting Tulleys Farm over the next few months, you'll have a wonderful time, and I'd like to offer you the warmest of welcomes.
